Who are we?The world of occupational therapy is made up of various types of people. They are parents, counselors, teachers, designers, travelers, ambassadors, scientists, explorers, etc. We are students from the Occupational Therapy Program at Stony Brook, New York. We are future therapists looking to spread the word about our profession and we hope to encourage learning about OT for all people. Definition of OT: Occupational Therapy is a profession that focuses on improving an individual's quality of life so that he/she is able to fully participate in the activities most important to them. When a disability or injury prevents a child or adult from engaging in an activity (playing games, socializing, using the bathroom, etc.), it can be frustrating and maybe a little discouraging. OTs work with adults and children to help them develop strategies and adaptations to allow them to engage in their activities successfully. Melissa | Research
